What is NIL?
Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) refers to NCAA guidance that allows student-athletes to earn compensation for the use of their NIL. This legislation allows student-athletes to earn compensation in the following ways:

- Personal Brand & Business Activities
- Personal Appearances
- Private Camps, Clinics, & Lessons
- Social Media Promotions & Influencer Activities
- Other Third Party Endorsements
is spartan nation tied to michigan state’s spartan fund?
Spartan Nation is a standalone entity that is separate from Michigan State University and/or the Michigan State University Foundation. NIL Collectives must be entirely separate from the university which they support, per NCAA regulations.
are contributions to spartan nation tax-deductible?
Spartan Nation is not a 501(c)3 organization, thus, contributions are not tax-deductible. While Spartan Nation is not a not-for-profit entity, we operate like one, and proudly commit to our members that our goal is to have 90%+ of every dollar contributed to Spartan Nation go directly to Michigan State student-athletes.
